Art Song Perth Present - "Home Sweet Home"

Sunday 30 September, 3:00 pm
Art Song Perth will present their final recital for 2018 on Sunday September 30th at 3 PM. The title of this recital is ‘Home Sweet Home’ – reflecting the return of the three featured singers to Perth. Soprano Prudence Sanders gained her MMus at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and then continued her career in London, Denmark and Sweden. Her performances included regular performances with the Chorus of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden with concerts at the Wigmore Hall, performances with Opera Rara, and the esteemed London Voices. Her oratorio performances include appearances at many of the English cathedrals, with notable conductors and choirs. Caitlin Cassidy is well-known to Perth audiences. After her studies in New York, Caitlin returned to Perth, and continued her performances in recital and opera, bringing her own distinctive style to her appearances in cabaret-style recitals, as well as demonstrating her versatility in opera performances. Louis Hurley has returned briefly to Perth from London, where he studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and is delighted to be able to appear for Art Song Perth once more during his Perth visit. Louis’ year in London included appearances in several operatic roles at Guildhall. He made his debut at the Wigmore Hall in a recital of Schubert part songs, and appeared in a featured role in the opera ‘Dead Man Walking’ at the Barbican Concert Hall. All three singers studied at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, and Louis and Caitlin were winner and runner-up respectively in the 2016 Art Song Perth ‘Evelyn and Ralph Thompson Scholarship’. Accompanists for the recital will be Marilyn Phillips, Artistic Director of Art Song Perth, and Chris Milbourn. Chris has already accompanied several singers for Art Song Perth, and will continue to gain invaluable accompanying experience with this exceptional musical organisation which continues to provide Perth singers with performance opportunities, and audiences with appealing and entertaining classical song recitals. Performances will be followed by light refreshments, included in the ticket price.
